As defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary “Exercise is bodily exertion for the sake of developing and maintaining physical fitness.”
If done properly, it can have immediate and long-term health benefits by improving your physical and mental health, reducing the risk of developing several lifestyle diseases like type2 diabetes, cancer, heart & lung diseases, muscle & bone degeneration, obesity and mental stress.
CARDIO, STRENGTH and FLEXIBILITY are the 3 major forms of exercise. It is best to address these components to achieve optimal physical & health benefits.
Many will play a sport like basketball, swimming, running, biking, badminton, volleyball, yoga, etc. for their exercise, but this is a common misconception because you must first be fit before playing a sport. Unfortunately, many will fall victim to injuries due to very high physical demands of sports.
Before engaging in sports as your preferred exercise, you must first consult a doctor for medical health clearance. After which, conduct a fitness test with a Professional Fitness Coach which will help determine your current fitness level.
Now, you can start enjoying the benefits of exercise. Always remember that a 1 -hour exercise is just 4% of your day. It will not only help you age well, but it will give you an improved quality of life.
